oppress me
—
It’s hard to change, move from here. Does your city oppress you? Mine, yes. São Paulo oppresses me. What’s so good here? The land of chance, where every traffic light is a job opportunity.
São Paulo is amazing for a vacation.
…a cousin from Florianópolis already told me.
This grandeur overwhelms me. This competitiveness overwhelms me. The lack of time, space, money, coexistence, patience, security, friendship, hope, food, transport, rain, tolerance. The unwillingness to stay. Lack of courage to leave. The lack of being with who I want, who loves me. But everyone is out there trying to survive this city.
Nobody has 10 minutes to hitchhike, nobody has 10 minutes to have coffee, nobody has 10 minutes to do what they want.
But I have 10 possible appointments in 10 minutes. I have to be busy, because here in São Paulo, being useful is being busy.
When or if I leave here, I’m going to buy a dictionary to relearn everything that was taken from me in this city.
Today I only know what oppression is. I no longer know what wind, hose bath and wet earth are.
